This moment has been 10 months in the making. Blood has been spilt, tears have been shed, there have been ups and downs, thrills and spills, and it has been a long hard slog for all those involved.

HOW IT WORKS

We tot up the marks out of 10 awarded in five national newspapers - The Sun, The Mirror, The Mail, The Times and The Guardian - to create a total out of 50 each week. The top player in each position has been rewarded with a spot in the Team of the Season, while the worst scorers have been named and shamed in our Flops XI.

TEAM OF THE SEASON (minimum 19 starts)

Cristiano Ronaldo takes perhaps the most important of all the gongs he has already claimed this season - the eurosport.yahoo.com crown of Player of the Season. And who could argue with that? The Portuguese flyer has been simply sensational all campaign long.

The rest of the final line-up for our star-studded side holds few surprises, with just two changes from last week's XI.

Newcastle keeper Steve Harper sneaks past Brad Friedel to nick the number one jersey right at the death, the keeper's appearance against Everton at the weekend counting as his 19th of the season - the minimum required for entry to our team.

And forward Ashley Young gets the nod of the left wing to cap a fine first full season with Aston Villa.

Bacary Sagna squeezes out the unfortunate Nyron Nosworthy at right-back, purely because the Sunderland player has not made the majority of his appearances in that position.

Joleon Lescott scored at the weekend to cement his place on the other flank, while Chelsea duo John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho are better than Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic in the middle, according to the ratings.

Can they play together in the same side? It doesn't matter in the Team of the Season, so Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard line up alongside each other in midfield, with Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres up front.

FLOPS OF THE SEASON

Oh dear. Derby County are officially the worst ever Premier League side, and their players' dominance of the Flops XI goes a long way to demonstrating it. Six Rams players are on the team sheet, including Worst Player of the Season Jay McEveley, who at least is in familiar surroundings in an all-Derby back line. Younes Kaboul can count himself a lucky man, Darren Moore's final day stinker edging the Spurs defender out of the side.

The frankly awful Robbie Savage lines up alongside Eddie Lewis in the Flops' midfield to complete the Rams' compliment of losers, while Benni McCarthy and Michael Chopra (a total of 14 goals between them this season) lead the attack.

TEAM OF THE FINAL WEEK

Afonso Alves's hat-trick against Manchester City sees him win the final Player of the Week award as Middlesbrough fans were finally able to enjoy watching some goals fly in at the Riverside.

Fulham may have pulled off the Great Escape, but they are represented by just one player this week, Brede Hangeland, who lines up alongside the immensely hard Nemanja Vidic at the heart of defence.

There was no such happy ending for Birmingham, but at least Stephen Kelly can console himself with the knowledge he made the Team of the Week with a sterling performance from right-back. Team of the Season member Joleon Lescott completes the back line.

James Harper's goal for Reading means he joins a midfield consisting of Manuel Fernandes and Boro duo Fabio Rochemback and Stewart Downing, while Everton goal hero Yakubu partners Alves up front.

FLOPS OF THE FINAL WEEK

The final day of the season produced an unprecedented event in the Flops of Week stakes as all 11 players came from just two teams.

Derby's contribution of six players comes as little surprise, but Manchester City's contender for most disinterested display of the season against Middlesbrough sees five of their players included.

Robbie Savage caps off a season to forget with a mere 18 points to take the title of individual Flop of the Week while Michael Ball actually received a 2 (two) from The Mirror - the second lowest mark seen all campaign behind Birmingham's Martin Taylor after his challenge on Eduardo.

Потому что телеканал Спорт купил так называемые права на трансляции матчей чемпионата макаронии по ного мячу , а контракт с Английской премьер - лигой у Спорта завершился , лучше бы они Чемпионат Испании показывали.

Или вообще ничего не показывали кроме нашего чемпионата.
