2. The Lakers win the NBA title in Game 6 at Philadelphia without Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as rookie Magic Johnson scores 42 points, grabs 15 rebounds and has seven assists while playing every position.

3. Johnson is named MVP of the NBA Finals, the only rookie in history to win that award.

3. For the second time in three seasons, the Lakers defeat Philadelphia to win the NBA title.

4. The Lakers win the first of nine consecutive Pacific Division titles.

5. Magic Johnson is named MVP of the regular season and of the NBA Finals.

4. Byron Scott becomes the only player in team history to lead the NBA in three-point field-goal percentage (43.3%).

5. The Lakers set an NBA season record by averaging 31.4 assists per game and set another record in field-goal percentage (54.5%).
